PROFILE
Kriton Artos S.A. is a member of EPENDYTIKI KRITIS S.A. Group, a constructions, real estate and financial services company. It was founded in 2003, after purchasing a local firm which was specialized in producing traditional Cretan bread products. Until April 2005, Kriton Artos was located in a 500 m2 rented facility in N. Alikarnassos, Heraklion Crete. However, its innovative products (such as mini toasts in various flavors) as well as the modern packaging policy that it adopted resulted in rapid development of the firm. In April 2005, Kriton Artos S.A. was translocated in a 2,500 m2 privately owned facility and initiated the category of Private Label in traditional Cretan bread products. It was the first company in the field that produced Cretan bread products under the brand name of a big super markets chain. In November 2005, it was certified with HACCP ELOT 1416 (the Greek HACCP quality standard).
Nowadays, the products of Kriton Artos S.A. can be found in all super market chains in Greece (e.g. Carrefour-Marinopoulos, AB Vasilopoulos, Masoutis, Atlantik, Sklavenitis), while 30% of its turnover comes from its export activities to several countries, such as USA, Germany, Australia, Cyprus e.t.c. The products of Kriton Artos can be classified in four categories: classic Cretan rusks, mini rusks in various flavors, olive oil biscuits and handmade breadsticks. Its daily production capacity is estimated in approximately 28,000 kg of final product, while it has been certified with an ISO 22000:2005, as well as with an IFS 05. Kriton Artos S.A. is the only company in the field that has implemented metal detection and automatic weight checking in all its packaging lines. Nowadays, it is located in a total area of 4,500 m2 and it has fully modernized its equipment, without spoiling the traditional way of producing Cretan bread products.
